Tales from the Steppes

Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose

I think today we'll start with the light stuff.

Yesterday the YM nearly ran into the newel post at the bottom of the stairs. When i checked to make certain he was ok, he replied that he was just pretending he was a cicada. Totally cracked me up that a)he would recognize the fact that cicadas don't watch where they are going and b)it is a great variant on the old "I meant to do that."

The house is on the market and getting action, but no offers yet. Don't want to think about it. My visit with the mortgage guy went ok, I guess. Kind of depressing though. I add nothing to the application and in fact only take away from the SU's shining spotlessness. So we are just leaving me off. I'm sure the SU will be ecstatic when I mention this. (I really am being sarcastic here) I feel a bit marginalized, but not particularly surprised. So it goes.

Don't you think my Ashcroft-meter should be a different color by now? Like brown, to signify the deep shit he is in. I actually read through one of the documents that lays out just what qualifies as torture and what doesn't. In-fucking-credible! So, if you hurt someone, but that wasn't your intent, even though you knew it was probable, it isn't torture. Words fail me.

Don't you think it's about time to get the country riled up again about a security threat? I mean, people are actually starting to focus on this travesty. Can't have that. Worry about your safety, not what our government is doing. In our name.

Sorry about the politics. But the Gipperporn was getting to me.
